I am Peter Kinch

Transition Coach

Passionate about helping individuals

Set Sail to Thriving

with clarity and confidence

when navigating choppy waters of transitions in life and work

with these typical outcomes

Fulfilling everyday experiences

Easier navigation of tougher challenges

Being energetic about life and work

Living as one's authentic self

Mental and physical health

Sailing, an analogy for coaching

On a sailboat race course marker one is placed directly upwind

A captain strategizes a zig-zag pathway with a navigator’s guidance to reach the marker because a sailboat cannot sail directly upwind

As a coach when acting as a navigator, I help clients chart their transition pathways (sometimes zig-zag) for choosing their responses to external influences (just as a captain responds to uncontrollable conditions of wind, waves and opponents, with guidance from a navigator)

and

help clients harness their core internal energy (just as a captain tactically adjusts sails and boat positions)

Final pathway decisions rest with

the captain, in sailing

the client, in coaching

Navigation guidance is offered to

a captain, in sailing

a client, in coaching

Simply: I help individuals chart, pursue, and navigate transition pathways towards thriving with capacity fueled by core energy

Peter’s Third Act

The concept of 'Third Act' represents a phase of active involvement in the last three decades of life, characterized by wisdom, authenticity, and wholeness. Approaching retirement from Ernst & Young (EY), where I was a senior partner and executive leader, I engaged with an executive coach to explore potential Third Act endeavors. This journey uncovered a path for me to shift into two roles: professional coaching and board service, all primarily influenced by two considerations.

First, they presented an opportunity to leverage my extensive experience in coaching colleagues and clients throughout my tenure at EY. We had addressed both personal and professional issues, aiding them in succeeding as partners and leaders within EY, as corporate executives, and in their personal lives. It also made use of board governance experiences.

Second, my decision was influenced by a lifelong commitment of fostering capacity for thriving in others, coupled with insights from my own transformative personal experiences as outlined in the tab 'Peter'.

Driven by a passion for coaching, a dedication to professional excellence, and an eagerness for ongoing development, I pursued industry-leading training at iPEC Coaching to supplement hands-on experience.
